Warner/Chappell Music Chairman & CEO Jon Platt has been elected to The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) Board of Directors, as announced by the performing rights organization’s President and Chairman Paul Williams.
“Jon is a tremendous talent in the publishing industry, and we are thrilled to have him join the ASCAP Board,” said Williams. “Our publisher and songwriter members face complex challenges in the digital era that call for a progressive outlook, and Jon is one of the best leaders of his generation. As the only performance rights organization that is led by a board composed of publishers and songwriters, ASCAP values his understanding of the creative process and his relationships with the creative community.”
In November 2015, Platt succeeded Cameron Strang as CEO & Chairman of Warner/Chappell Music following his role as President, North America at Warner Music Group’s global music publishing arm. As the leader of Warner/Chappell, Platt is responsible for cultivating and nurturing the expansion of the publisher’s roster of talent and its range of creative services.
Platt joined Warner/Chappell in 2012 following 17-years at EMI Music Publishing, and has played a vital role in recruiting, signing, and building relationships with a diverse range of talent such as Jay Z, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Kendrick Lamar, Michael Bublé, George Michael, and many others.
